CJC-1295: The Growth Hormone Peptide That Transforms Sleep and Recovery

CJC-1295 stimulates natural growth hormone release for deeper sleep, faster recovery, and improved body composition. Learn dosing, research, and how to pair it with Ipamorelin.

What Is CJC-1295?

CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) — the natural signal your brain sends to the pituitary gland to produce and release growth hormone. By mimicking this signal, CJC-1295 stimulates your body's own growth hormone production rather than introducing exogenous growth hormone directly.

This distinction matters. Exogenous HGH (somatropin) provides a flat, continuous supply of growth hormone that bypasses the body's natural pulsatile release pattern. CJC-1295 works with your physiology, amplifying the natural GH pulses that occur throughout the day, with the largest pulse occurring during deep sleep.

CJC-1295 is available in two forms: CJC-1295 with DAC (Drug Affinity Complex) and CJC-1295 without DAC (also called modified GRF 1-29 or Mod GRF). The DAC version has an extended half-life of approximately 6-8 days, allowing for less frequent dosing but producing a more sustained GH elevation. The non-DAC version has a shorter half-life of approximately 30 minutes, creating sharper GH pulses that more closely mimic natural physiology. Most longevity physicians prefer the non-DAC version for its more physiological pulsatile pattern, particularly when paired with Ipamorelin.

The Growth Hormone Connection

Growth hormone is one of the most critical hormones for maintaining youthful physiology. It governs deep sleep architecture, tissue repair and recovery, body composition (muscle-to-fat ratio), skin thickness and elasticity, bone density maintenance, cognitive function, and immune system regulation.

After age 30, growth hormone output declines by approximately 14% per decade. By age 60, most adults produce a fraction of the GH they did in their twenties. This decline correlates directly with the physical changes commonly attributed to aging: increased body fat, decreased muscle mass, thinner skin, poorer sleep, and slower recovery from exercise or injury.

CJC-1295 addresses this decline by restoring GH output to more youthful levels without the risks associated with supraphysiological HGH dosing. The peptide stimulates your pituitary to produce its own growth hormone, maintaining the body's natural feedback mechanisms.

Sleep, Recovery, and Body Composition

The three most consistently reported benefits of CJC-1295 are improved sleep, faster recovery, and positive body composition changes.

Sleep improvements are often the first benefit users notice, frequently within the first week. CJC-1295 amplifies the natural GH pulse that occurs during Stage 3 (deep) sleep, which in turn enhances the quality and duration of deep sleep itself. This creates a positive feedback loop: more GH during sleep leads to deeper sleep, which leads to more GH production. Users report waking feeling more rested, with improved morning clarity and energy.

Recovery acceleration becomes apparent within the first 2-4 weeks. Growth hormone is essential for tissue repair, and enhanced GH pulsatility supports faster recovery between workouts, reduced muscle soreness, and improved healing from minor injuries. Athletes and active individuals often report the ability to train more frequently with less downtime.

Body composition changes — specifically a gradual decrease in body fat and increase in lean mass — develop over 8-16 weeks of consistent use. These changes occur without necessarily altering diet or exercise habits, though results are amplified when combined with proper nutrition and training.

Dosing and Timing

CJC-1295 (without DAC) is administered subcutaneously, with dosing and timing designed to amplify the body's natural GH release patterns.

The standard dose is 100 to 300 micrograms per injection, typically administered before bed on an empty stomach. The empty stomach requirement is important — insulin and blood glucose suppress growth hormone release, so eating within 2 hours before injection can blunt the GH pulse.

Most physicians prescribe CJC-1295 in combination with Ipamorelin, as the two peptides work synergistically through different mechanisms. CJC-1295 provides the GHRH signal while Ipamorelin provides the ghrelin-mimetic signal, together producing a larger and cleaner GH pulse than either peptide alone.

The typical combined protocol is CJC-1295 100-300mcg plus Ipamorelin 100-300mcg, injected subcutaneously 30 minutes before bed on an empty stomach, 5-6 nights per week. Some physicians recommend cycling (5 days on, 2 days off) to prevent receptor desensitization.

The CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin Stack

The combination of CJC-1295 and Ipamorelin is the most widely prescribed growth hormone peptide stack in longevity medicine, and for good reason.

CJC-1295 stimulates GH release through the GHRH receptor pathway. Ipamorelin stimulates GH release through the ghrelin receptor pathway. Activating both pathways simultaneously produces a synergistic GH pulse that is larger, cleaner, and more physiologically natural than stimulating either pathway alone.

Importantly, Ipamorelin is one of the most selective GH secretagogues available. Unlike other ghrelin mimetics (such as GHRP-6 or MK-677), Ipamorelin does not significantly increase cortisol, prolactin, or appetite. This makes the CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin combination well-tolerated with minimal side effects.

The Longevity AI Longevity Stack uses CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin as its core growth hormone component, paired with MOTS-C for metabolic optimization.

Research and Clinical Evidence

Clinical studies on CJC-1295 have demonstrated significant increases in circulating growth hormone and IGF-1 levels. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism showed that CJC-1295 (with DAC) increased mean GH levels by 2-10 fold and IGF-1 levels by 36-69% after multiple doses.

Research on the safety profile has been favorable, with the most common side effects being injection site reactions, flushing, and headache — all typically mild and transient.

The body of evidence supporting growth hormone secretagogues for age-related GH decline continues to grow, with ongoing research examining effects on body composition, sleep quality, metabolic health, and functional outcomes in aging populations.
